Walk Yourself into a Happy Healthy Life

Foot Pain Center of Kansas City wants you to TAKE A HIKE. No, we don’t want you to go away. We want our patients to be healthy, happy and pain-free. Taking a lightly brisk walk every day can actually improve your mental, emotional and physical health.

The top 10 things a daily 30 minute walk can do for you:

  1. Strengthens your heart which lowers high blood pressure

  2. Lowers disease risk (heart disease, type 2 diabetes, asthma, etc…)

  3. Keeps your weight in check

  4. help prevent dementia

  5. Helps maintain healthy joints and reduces risk of osteoporosis

  6. Tones your legs, tummy, rear end, feet and ankles

  7. Tones your arms if you pick up the speed a bit

  8. Boosts your vitamin D levels (sunlight!)

  9. Gives you energy (boosts metabolism)

  10. Releases “feel good” endorphins which make you happy!

Studies have shown regular, moderate-intensity exercise (such as a brisk walk) is as effective as antidepressants in cases of mild to moderate depression. If you join a group or walk with your friends then it is a social activity, which is a great way to stay connected despite a busy life. Fall is the best time to walk or hike because the weather is cooling down and the landscape is changing. This is why Dr. Goldstein and the staff of Foot Pain Center of Kansas City invites you to go for a walk.

All three of the Foot Pain Center of Kansas City locations are near amazing walking trails and points of interest.  Over the next few blogs we will share these points of interests with you. Make sure to tell Dr. Goldstein about your walk and how you feel on your next appointment. He will probably tell you to share your experience and your pictures on our Facebook or Google + pages too.
